    London Workshop FAQs 🌿

Everything you need to know about our cosy Sunday terrarium workshops. Still got a question? Drop us a line at hello@weareleafage.com, a real human reads every email.

What happens in a Terrarium Workshop? Toggle answer

You'll build your own closed terrarium from the ground up, layering stones, activated charcoal, soil, fresh moss and tropical plants into a glass vessel that you take home with you.

Our friendly host walks you through every step, so you can sip something nice, slow down, and make something living with your hands. It's 1.5 hours start to finish, relaxed, sociable, and beginner-friendly. 🌱

Which plants will I be using? Toggle answer

We keep it simple. You'll be working with Fittonia, Ivy and a fresh sheet of tropical moss, plus the soil, charcoal and grit layers that hold it all together.

Everything we use thrives in indirect light, so no green thumb required.

Can I bring a friend or partner along? Toggle answer

Yes, and most people do! You can book the For Two option from £99 so you each build your own terrarium side by side. It's a lovely date, friend hang, or family activity.

Coming solo is just as welcome, workshops are intimate and sociable, so you'll meet other Londoners doing the same thing.

How do I take my terrarium home? Toggle answer

We'll give you a sturdy carry bag at the end of the workshop so your terrarium travels safely. It fits easily on a tube or in a taxi, most people pop it straight onto a shelf as soon as they get home.

If you've come a long way and want extra peace of mind, just ask the host on the day, we'll make sure it's well wrapped.

How long does the terrarium last once it's made? Toggle answer

Closed terrariums are self-watering little ecosystems, so with a bit of care they can keep growing for years, some of ours are over a decade old. 🌍

You'll go home with a printed care card covering watering, light and pruning. And if anything ever looks off, just email us a photo, we love a plant rescue.

Is the workshop safe if I'm pregnant? Toggle answer

Yes. Our workshops are calm and seated, and you'll be working with clean houseplants, potting soil and moss in a bright, ventilated space.

As with anything pregnancy-related, it's always worth a quick word with your midwife or GP if you have specific concerns.

Is it safe for pets or kids? Toggle answer

Kids aged 8 and over are very welcome when accompanied by a paying adult. Just book a ticket each and pop us an email at hello@weareleafage.com so we know to expect them.

Once your terrarium is home, the plants we use are non-toxic to cats and dogs. The glass keeps curious paws out, and the closed lid means nothing spills.

Do I need to bring a ticket? Toggle answer

Nope, your order confirmation email is your ticket. We'll have your name on the guest list when you arrive, so just show up 10 minutes early and we'll get you settled.

Venue is The Hawk's Nest, Goldhawk Rd, Shepherd's Bush Market, London W12 8DF, a bright, heated covered terrace, 2 minutes from Goldhawk Road tube.

I can't attend the workshop I booked. Can I get a refund? Toggle answer

Tickets are non-refundable and non-transferable, small classes mean every seat counts, and we prep materials per person.

But if life happens, you're absolutely welcome to send someone in your place. Just email hello@weareleafage.com with their name and we'll update the guest list. Gift vouchers are also a lovely backup if their schedule's tricky.
