Take the plants out of the box and place them in bright, indirect light.
2. Leave Sealed
The sealed bags act like mini terrariums, keeping your plants happy for up to 10 days. We recommend building within 7 days.
3. Build When Ready
No rush. Keep your plants sealed until you’re ready to create.
4. Grab a Spray Bottle
A spray bottle or kitchen sponge is all you’ll need for watering. Your build and care guides are included.

Do I need any plant experience to build a Leafage terrarium kit? Toggle answer
No plant experience needed. Our DIY terrarium kits are designed for total beginners, including self-confessed plant killers. Every kit comes with step by step instructions, low-maintenance plants chosen to thrive on neglect, and a real human on email if you ever get stuck.
If you can stack pancakes, you can build a Leafage terrarium. 🌿
What's in the box, and what should I do when my kit arrives? Toggle answer
Your Leafage terrarium kit arrives with everything you need to build your closed terrarium, a glass vessel, drainage stones, activated charcoal, tropical soil, fresh moss, live plants, decorative grit and a printed step by step guide. (The only extra you'll want is a basic spray bottle, see the next question.)
When it arrives, gently unbox it on a flat surface and give the plants a few minutes to settle. Build the same day if you can. If you need to wait a day or two, keep the plants out of direct sunlight and lightly mist them with water. That's it, no rush.
Do I need any extra tools, or is everything in the box? Toggle answer
Almost everything is in the box. Your Leafage DIY terrarium kit comes with the glass vessel, drainage stones, activated charcoal, tropical soil, fresh moss, live plants, decorative grit and a printed step by step guide.
The one thing we don't include is a spray bottle. If you've got one at home, brilliant. If not, a basic plant mister from any UK supermarket, garden centre or Amazon works perfectly (usually around £3 to £5).
Once your terrarium is built, a light mist roughly once a fortnight is all the watering it needs. Closed terrariums are self-regulating little ecosystems.
How long does a Leafage terrarium kit take to build? Toggle answer
Most people finish in 35 to 55 minutes. It's a relaxed, mindful build, no plant skills required, and the printed guide walks you through each step.
Couples, friends and solo builders often stretch it into a proper slow evening, pour a glass of wine, put on a playlist, and make it a real experience. Brilliant at the kitchen table, on holiday, or as a quiet treat after a long week.

Does the terrarium need direct sunlight? Toggle answer
No, indirect light is best. Our DIY terrarium kits use tropical plants chosen for low to medium indirect light. A north-facing London flat, an office desk, or a shelf a few feet from a window all work beautifully.
Avoid full direct sun. The glass acts like a tiny greenhouse and can cook the plants. Bright but indirect is the sweet spot.
Is the kit safe for cats, dogs and kids? Toggle answer
Yes. Every plant in our terrarium kits is non-toxic to cats and dogs, checked against the ASPCA pet-safe list. The glass vessel is heavy and stable, and the closed lid keeps curious paws out.
Kids aged 8 and over love building one with a grown up, it's a lovely rainy weekend project. For younger children, an adult should handle the glass.
