Carnivorous Terrarium Care Guide
Explore the darker side of nature by making terrariums that have killer plants that aren’t afraid to eat anything that crosses their path. From carnivorous plants to other spooky guys, our terrariums are the perfect addition to growing your urban jungle!
The Pitcher Plant has been known to feed off ants and flies, but animals as big as rats and frogs have been known to have been eaten by the pitcher! The biggest pitcher plant is called N. Attenboroughii (named after the one and only, Sir David Attenborough) and is 1.5m in height!
You don't actually need to feed your carnivorous plants with insects as they can survive like all plants, on water and light alone. However, if you're feeling pretty evil and want to feed your plants - 1-2 insects such as flies is enough.
Pitcher plants are like us, they have their seasons. When the temperature starts to drop in Autumn, they will start to die off. Do not panic! They will come back by February and start flourishing again. To speed up their recovery, trim off any dead leaves at the base of your plant.
“Every season is one of becoming, but not always one of blooming.
